to 2 directors who looked it over. I can't remember what
time this was. It would have taken more than hour to do
translating and typing. After showing copy to directors
I meant to show it to Mr. Brewer or Mrs. Brewer because 4th
witness had crossed out 2 top lines (Issued Capital & ) and
(Allotment Reserve) included the 2 items in Paid up capital. They were not in,
I went to Mr. Brewer's room. I then sent Ex.G to printing
shop by messenger perhaps with a chit book, perhaps not. I
gaw no one else then. I sent Ex.G to printers after 12 noon.
On Saturdays we close bank at 1 p.m. When I sent Ex.G I sent
request for proof. I received a proof and showed it to Mrs.
Brewer. I don't remember when I first received proof, perhaps
1 or 2 days later. I would be in Bank most Sundays, though
Bank was closed. I received at first one proof only. It was
similar to Ex.E. I made corrections in Chinese in first
proof. Ex.H is the first proof on which I made correttions, corrections in Chinese characters are in my handwriting. 3
names of directors written in Ex.H are actual signatures;
I saw them written.
When Ex.H was returned auditor's signa-
ture was not on. Ex.H is lat and only proof I received. When
Ex.H came back I gave it to Mrs. Brewer who sent for me and
asked about the alterations. I said it was 4th witness
business. I 'phoned 4th witness on Mrs. Brewer's instructions
He came at once and he went to Mrs. Brewer. When I gave Ex.H
to Mrs. Brewer 4th witness's signature was not on.
Mrs.
Brewer handed Ex.H back to me and 4th witness's signature was
After that I asked 3 directors who happened to be in
my office to sign. They signed in my presence. I pointed out to them that Ex.H was balance sheet audited by 4th witness.
I can't remember what I did next with Ex.H. I can't remember
whether I returned it to Mrs. Brewer, kept it, or took it to
printing shop myself. I have often been to printing shop.
